Subject: gcc -g trouble in 2.3.3

If I give gcc 2.3.3 the -g flag, ld complains about an unknown "-static"
flag; I had no such trouble with my previous version gcc, 2.2.2d. My
version of ld came with the SLS 0.98pl5 distribution. Is that version
of ld out of date by now?
