Subject: Startup video problem with SLS
Date: Thu, 7 Jan 1993 06:18:51 GMT

After finally getting the new hard drive I ordered some time ago, I eagerly
began the installation process for the SLS Linux distribution. Everything
worked great until I rebooted with the floppy the installation procedure
created. When it booted, after the "Loading...." message, my screen went
berserk. The computer continued merrily along and seemed to come up OK,
but I couldn't read anything on the screen.

It looks like a timing problem on the video card. Does anybody have any
idea how this might be fixed? The install boot disk didn't have this
problem, even when I put it in SVGA mode...

My system is a Gateway 2000 386-33Mhz with a Diamond Speedstar (ET4000)
video card and a Crystal Scan 1024NI monitor.
