My guess is that he's correct. Let's not be all things to all people.
One can just boot the other OS when it's talents are needed.
The things I've read suggest that the Linux community has a full plate
already developing and polishing a major operating system. This is
quite an accomplishment for a loosely affiliated group of hobbists.
There seems to be a good bit of life here! CMU Mach is snarled in the
licensing/ownership mess. The 386BSD people are barely detectable.
