I thought some people would appreciate the following fine text about decwrl:

From: forbes@cbnewsf.cb.att.com (Scott Forbes)
Subject: Say you don't have FTP access? (was Re: PC MORIA...WHERE TO GET??)
Organization: Usenet Sports Programming Network

From the Book of Usenet, Thompson 5:11...
,_,
|A|nd so it came to pass that the alumni, the graduates of the places of
'-' higher learning and knowledge, were shorn of their FTP access, and
were unable to access the many games thereby, and there was much wailing
and gnashing of teeth.
,_,
|A|nd one of the alumni despaired, and spake before the assembled masses:
'-' "Canst thou tell me of the way, that I might find my favorite game?
I am shorn of my FTP access."
,_,
|B|ut the masses did not know the way, and there was much silence.
'-'
,_,
|T|hen a voice rose from within the crowd, saying: "Come hither, and ye
'-' shall learn the secrets of FTP by mail." And the crowd hearkened to
that voice, and gave it a space, for there was much desire to learn the
secrets of FTP by mail.
,_,
|"|Send a message to ftpmail@decwrl.dec.com with the word 'help' in the
'-' body of the message, and ye shall receive a list of commands that
may be sent to this magical daemon. Thy requests shall be queued, and
verily I say that the files you request shall arrive at your mailbox in
the space of a day's time." The crowd marvelled at this, that the secret
should be so simple and easy, yet so little known.
,_,
|"|Have a care, thou must also knowest the secrets of 'atob', 'compress'
'-' and 'cat', for thy file may arrive compressed and in parts, and thou
must re-assemble, decode and uncompress them. Yet this is a minor task
to the likes of thee, worthy alumni." A murmur ran through the crowd at
this news: Some despaired yet again, having gone to places of learning
that did not teach these secrets. Others spake of ways to surmount these
difficulties, while still others paid them no heed whatsoever.
,_,
|A|nd so the masses dispersed, each to attempt to magic of FTP by mail,
'-' and in the days that followed there were many attempts made, and some
of these led to files, and others to error messages, and still others to
gibberish which the receiver could not comprehend. And there was some
despair, and some confusion, yet for the most part the files were received,
and it was like unto a miraculous work, for the masses had ever lost hope
of using FTP again.
,_,
|A|nd there was much rejoicing.
'-'

Have fun,
