This is what I did. First, ignore the FAQ. I couldn't get it's approach to work
either. Partion the disk using OS2. Install OS2 with its bootmanager. Install
Linux. Install Lilo as if OS2 were just a DOS partion. (Whoops. I forgot to
mention that I made all the OS2 partions use the DOS format.) All done.
This is what I figured out. OS2/2.1 boot manager is NOT a master boot sector.
It uses the plain old dos master boot sector to boot the boot manager. The rest
of the 1Mb partion seems to be empty as a result of OS2 fdisk only knowing how to
deal with 1Mb increments. Installing Lilo, which is a master boot sector, doesn't
interfere with OS2. When Lilo chooses OS2, it boots the OS2 boot manager. I have
my OS2 boot manager configured with a real small timeout (like 0) and the only
choice being OS2.
