Subject: Floppy detection code...?
Date: 25 Feb 1993 02:39:20 GMT

While people are ironing the small things out of the kernel before 1.0 is
released, I thought I might mention the fact that my 3 1/2 HD drive isn't
recognized on bootup...
 - I get an "fd0 is a 1.2M HD drive" kind of message, but nothing
relating to fd1 being a 1.44M HD drive or anything...

And ever since I've been using Linux I haven't been able to use /dev/fd1
directly, 'cause it wouldn't detect the disk type (so I linked fdb to
fd1h1440, which works fine, but is a pain when using the odd 720K
disk...)

It's not of great importance to me personally, but if someone happens
to discover anything, I'd be really grateful. (I might take a look at
the code myself Real Soon Now, if I remember...)

  Ta heeps !
