Subject: kermit customization with linux
Date: 24 Feb 1993 14:30:40 GMT

I have used kermit for ms-dog and was able to redefine every key on
the keyboard via set key commands. The set key command requires that
the first parameter be the code for the key you want mapped. Thats fine
in dos because you get a scancode for each key. Under linux you get
a sequence of charachters, (usually an escape sequence of some kind)
for the pf keys, shift pf etc. There doesn't seem to be any way of
trapping and mapping these sequences, and I can't find a way to have linux
return the raw scan codes to the program.
I have to find a way to do this so that I don't have to reboot the system
every time I need to dial into a system to use a 3270onavt100 sort of
screen emulator, which is quite often since I'm in that buisness.
If necessary I don't mind recompiling kermit for linux, with MINOR mods
I just need to know that its possible and what to do. Please respond via
email, as news expires so fast here I might not see it.
I will post any wonderful info I get...
Thanks in advance Wendell Nichols
