Subject: X programs compile larger under Xfree1.2/GCC 2.3.3(?)

  I've just installed the latest SLS, which includes xfree1.2 and GCC 2.3.3.
My system used to be xfree1.1 and GCC 2.2.2d7. I compiled all of my previous
programs with jump libraries. I've noticed that recompiling X programs on
the new system ends up with files about 3 times as large as before. Anyone
have a clue why?
