... this may be a little premature of me, as i haven't sifted through the
sources yet, but for a while now i've been wondering about doing this:

        % cd / ; tar cf - | sz -vv

i.e. using zmodem protocol to backup my hard disk using the phone
line. It seems that some version of sz/rz supports this, sending a
file with a name like sz.$PID (i have a man page that describes this,
but it's not in front of me now). The man page for szrz9202 does not
list this feature (and it doesn't work :-) ), but otherwise appears to
be identical to the other man page that i have.

As i said, i haven't gone through the sources yet (and it should be fairly
easy to implement), but does anyone out there know what the story is ?

Imagine copying entire directory trees with:

        unix % tar cf - . | sz
        linux% rz - | tar xf -
