WHY?!? Are you *that* strapped for disk space?
Why can't you simply download, *then* tar it?
But, not to leave you without an answer...
The simplest solution I know is to quit from kermit (without hanging
up your modem... you may have to initialize it with "AT&D0"), then
kermit -k | tar -xzvf -
(kermit's "-k" option is for receiving to stdout)
You may also have to include -l, -b, -p, and other options
for "line", "bps", "parity" and other things unless you've
got them set in your "~/.kermrc" file.
