Hi everyone, I just read the FAQ and I'm thinking about installing
linux, but first I'd like to know what all of you use linux for.
It sounds like a great operating system, but my primary use for
my computer is to write reports, make charts and graphs, and
whatever programs my classes require. I'm not a great programmer
and I don't have time to spend constantly adding patches recompiling
kernels and programs. I would like to know how much time you spend
maintaining the operating system as compared with doing other work.
If possible a list of what programs you use and a rough estimate
of prices would be very helpful. I'm not quite ready to junk over
200MB of DOS & Windows programs to switch to linux.
Thanks a lot,
paul
ps. Can I install linux as the primary partition on drive D? (125MB)
I haven't been able to get mkefs or mkfs to work. I'll post
the exact errors later.
