Subject: no FAQ: video refresh rate (CONSOLE!)

Using some SVGA-Modus after the choice at boot time, the video refresh rate
is about only 55 Hz.

With the standard 80/25 mode, it's ok with about 70 Hz.

Switching to any of the SVGA-modes will cause a refresh rate between 50 and
60 Hz, depending on the mode.

I use a Expert ET4000 card.

I think the problem is not only to set the video mode at boot time -
the video clock must be set to an higher value too.

The video card has no jumper to select the higher rate by default.

I want to use mode 30 (100x40) with 49 kHz -> 72 Hz, but I only get
35 kHz -> 55 Hz.

Is this problem existant with other video cards too? (Choose a white back-
ground with black foreground, and don't look directly at the screen - you'll
see the difference).

Any solutions???

Thanks, Micha
