Well it took a little time to install the new X11, I forgot to do
tar xvfz <file>.tgz 2>&1 | tee tar.results

and so missed a place tar could build a correct symbolic link.

I offer the suggestion that README's include the above.

I didn't need startx -pn, but wasn't sure about how I last configured
my Linux-0.99 patchlevel 5 kernel.

startx -pn doesn't work on my plain vanilla et4000 card too well.

startx results in X386 reporting highest clock 65 Mhz from 64.9 to 65.1
startx -pn reports it as 50.3 --- does this imply something about X11
running wihtout TCP code???

I would have posted this to X11 group except saw refer to startx -pn
in the README.Linux in the ./etc directory.
