I have been using XFree 1.2 on my 386 for over a week, and it is great.
Now, however, I just uncrated my new 486 Localbus ET4000. All works
great it seems. I can switch out to the VT's under Linux and everything
is cool. But when I exit X, either gracefully or by ctl-alt-bs, the
fonts seem to get corrupted. Reentering and exiting X just seems to
make them worse.
I suspected shadowing, so I played with the BIOS setup. But if I disable
all bios stuff, the machine won't boot? Any ideas why X can restore
the fonts correctly for VT switching, but not termination?
