Subject: Trouble with serial and 0.99-Pl5
Date: 19 Feb 1993 14:07:53 GMT

Bonjour a Tous,

I need help to use 0.99-Pl5 and getty!

According my understanding, 0.99-Pl5 allow us (now) to use
the serial line conveniently (A la FAS driver) for
        input and output.

Basicaly you have two devices (/dev/cua0 and /dev/ttS0
interlocked together) to provide "login" and "dialout" without
the need to manipulate '/etc/inittab' to switch from one state
        to another.

To work such setup need to have the standard 'getty' waiting
for CD (carrier detect) a the "open" level (referred as
        BLOCKED MODE).

My implementation is not working, as soon I activate
'/etc/getty' in '/etc/inittab' the line start to be crazy
by "speaking" with the modem (at the command mode level),
so I believe that BLOCKED mode is not working propelly.

I "double checked" tty_io.c and remove the CLOCAL option
at the initialize level, but I stil get the same problem.
I look also in 'agetty.c' and the open is done in
        BLOCKED mode (default?)

        What I am overlooking?
Did somebody was succesfull to use 0.99-Pl5 such way?
        any suggestions?

A bientot et Merci
