Subject: OS/2 and LINUX sharing the same partition
Date: Fri, 19 Feb 1993 02:01:11 GMT

Well the day has come for me to install linux and I have a few questions
in reference to the partitions. I would like to have OS/2 2.1 on the
first hard drive and linux on the second hard drive. I know that OS/2
creates a swapper file and I think linux does also. My questions are:

1. Is it possible to have both operating systems redirect their swap file
to the same partition but in different directories?

2. If I create a linux partition with linux's fdisk and format it using
linux, will OS/2 see it - and vice versa? I would like to have access
to all my partitions no matter which operating system I'm running.
             (I know MS-DOS will not see OS/2)

3. Can Linux boot from a logical drive? this question might require simple
logic, but I haven't been thinking correct lately
4. The computer is a 386/40 with 8 megs of ram, 2hds - master Maxtor 7120at
       120 and the second drive is a segate ST3144a 130 - a mitsumi CD-ROM
drive (currently not installed) and a CTX NI montior.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^- isn't it easier to install after the
                                        OPs

I've looked at the FAQ's and it doesn't mention anything about the thoughts
that have crossed my mind.

-oh- The video card is a trident 8900C / 1meg. I've noticed many people
are having problems with this card. Does anyone have the correct
configs for X-windows? I would like to keep my 1024x768 256c

Sorry to waste everybody's time but I would appreciate any information

Thank You
