Subject: lpd and non-network printing???
Date: 18 Feb 1993 21:17:03 GMT

I just downloaded the lp daemon (Berkley's public domain) and compiled
it successfully. However, when I try to run lpd, it failes on
gethostbyname. I have TCP/IP installed on my system, but I don't have it
linked into my kernel. I also don't have any of the related setup
files (i.e. hosts, services, etc...). How can I get lpd to work for
local printing only? I have no need for network printing.
I was thinking of just commenting out all the tcp-related calls in
lpd's code. It'd be a pain... would it work?

Thanks,
Anthony
