Subject: Availability of several dos programs for *nix
Date: Wed, 17 Feb 1993 20:29:02 EST

Hello Linuxers,

I've got a question to all of you. I've been monitoring c.o.l. and
c.o.l.a. lately and the existance of the dos emulator together with some
other great programs, convinced me to run Linux. I will just wait a few
weeks to see how a new kernel will run and if it will be enclosed in a
coming SLS. Before I convert, I'd like to know about the availability of
some DOS programs for either *nix systems in general, and Linux in
particular. I'll include a list of DOS programs I regularly use. I've
got a very old version of the FAQ so some of these might have been
discussed before. But still, if there are multiple programs like the
ones I mentioned I'd like your personal opinion on which one is the
best.

Here is the list of programs:
 - Aseasy Spreadsheet
 - D'Bridge FidoNET mailer
 - Derive Mathematical program
 - DPaint II Painting/drawing program
 - Turbo Pascal 5.5 Pascal compiler
 - Turbo Assembler 2.01 Assembler
 - Vivid 2.0 alpha 14 Raytracer
 - Waffle 1.65 Bulletinboard system

Some of these things might be obvious, f.e. I know Waffle is available
for UNIX and shouldn't be too hard to port, but I'd still like to know
if you think it is a good BBS, or should I go to Xbbs, or something else.

Thanks in advance,
                  Ad.
