Subject: Help needed with network stuff
Date: 17 Feb 1993 09:09:54 -0500

Hi all!

I have successfully installed the newest Linux kernel (0.99pl5) with patches
for NE2000 cards.
I followed the instructions for configuring the network (my machine is a
486/33 with 8MB RAM and NE2000 card). Most of tcpip-stuff works on our local
network (Iris Indigo, Apollo 3500 and Next). Only ftp doesn't work so far:
        - when ftp'ing to another machine in the local net the connection
could be astablished but file transfers don't work. Only 1K will
          be transferred.
        - when ftp'ing from the Iris to my pc i get the massage:
           'eth_if: Couldn't allocate a sk_buff of size 139'
in an endless loop an the machine hangs.
Tcpip from outside doesn't work at all:
        - when i try to telnet or to ftp to another machine outside our
local net i always get a message like this:
'telnet: Unable to connect to remote host: Network is unreachable'
May be this is due to a configuration error but
        - when i try to telnet my pc from outside i get the message
          'eth_if: Couldn't allocate a sk_buff of size 139'
(in an endless loop and the machine hangs).
What i have done so far is:
        - editing /etc/inet/hosts
        - running /etc/inet/hostcvt.build
        - running domainname
        - editing /etc/inet/resolv.conf (adding several nameservers)

Any help would be appreciated...
