I have had problems with my trident 8900B also. The solution was
to specify the clock (Clocks 25 36 ... 50) and only have one
ModeDB entry. I use 800 x 600 at 50 MHz clock. Appearently
XFree-1.1 had problems with the Trident clocks. Haven't tried the
1.2 version yet.
