I'm unclear if you want to work in an Algol,Pascal,Modula family
language under unix, to modify source to a compiler, or to work
on a high end DOS machine. So I'll answer broadly.

There is a binary available for a Modula2 compiler running under
Minix. This is discussed occasionally, and articles should be in
those archives.

Separately, the Oberon system runs on a DOS 386 and 486dx and sx, in
addition to several other platforms. A wealth of source is
available. Source for a different target cpu is available, and
appears to compile and cross compile on the 386.
