From: mlamm@Nimitz.mcs.kent.edu (Mark Lamm (Beven)) Subject: help on dial out Date: Sun, 14 Feb 1993 18:57:15 GMT
I am rather new at linux but I did get the SLS distribution up and running on
my 486. (Not X yet but that is a different problem.)
Right now my major concern is that while dos has no problem with my modem on
com1 (hayes) linux won't deal with it.
minicom works fine except that it thinks it is dialing and it does not
same thing with kermit. I tried echo atdt<number>|/dev/ttyS0 and got permission
denied and a broken pipe. boath /dev/ttyS0 and /dev/modem (linked to ttyS0)
are enabled for universal read/write acording to ls -l. Any help would be
greatly appreciated.
P.S. after reading MANY more posts on the subject I tried to set up the new
/dev/cua0-4 devices via mknod /dev/cua0 c 5 64 etc. and then tried to use them.
still no response.
