From: jkreyka@cs.vu.nl (Kreijkamp J) Subject: A few questions... Date: Sun, 14 Feb 1993 14:31:29 GMT
Hello,
I've a few questions relating several subjects...
1) Can telnet work without an ethernet card?
I need to be able to use telnet to the machine I'm on, because I want
to run a test-MUD for my sister, so she doesn't need to use the modem
all the time :-)
If this is possible, how must I do it?
2) Has anyone tried to write device drivers for scanners under linux?
I have a (Non SCSI) scanner for my PC, but I need MS-Wblurggg for
it at the moment (misusing 15 Megs of my HD!) and I would be very
gratefull if I could do this under Linux in X.
3) Does any body know if Forex386-board 64K cache support >16Mb?
I want to upgrade my motherboard from 5Meg to 20Meg, but I heard
stories that some motherboards give problems with caching, with
result in the upper 4Meg isn't cached. The board (FOREX 386DX) uses
the FRX36C300 and FRX36C402 chips for the cache.
4) Is there a Modula-2 compiler available for Linux?
Again, it's for my sister, REAL programmers don't use M-2 :-)
5) Are there any PD programms available to MAKE MPEG movies?
It would be nice if I could use my scanner for simple animation
tests, althrough primitive, a lot quicker than to wait until a
8-mm film tape is developed.
If you can answer any of these questions, send the answer(s) to

(Best send them to me, News on this group with a 2400Baud, no compression
modem isn't much fun at all)
Thanks and Greetings,
