Subject: backspace v.s. delete in 0.99pl4 SLS

I've noticed ever since I upgraded to SLS 0.99pl4 that the backspace
key on the console doesn't work right.

It works ok in bash, but whenever I go into a program like elm or vi
and hit the backspace key I get the delete character instead.
I'm ending up having to use control-H to delete characters.

Any ideas? termcap? stty settings?
