From: lp@shlink.hanse.de (Lutz Petersen) Subject: CNews-problem Date: Sat, 13 Feb 1993 23:07:13 GMT
I have a strange problem (!?) with CNews (SLS-binaries). If the news-
system reads the incoming newsbatches, a lot of them are thrown away
to the /usr/spool/news/in.coming/bad directory. 'errlog' tells me about
bad news-batches (out of sync..).
The curious thing: We did some tests with the news-serving uucp-site;
there also runs CNews and the same batches were stripped ok, so that
any extern problems seems out of question. I'd made another test -
throwing the incoming news-batches to the Waffle(DOS)-rnews: the same
problems (out of sync) occurs.
Within the CNews-Sources is a little notice about 'seems to be a little
bit too hard against bad news-batches..', nothing else. What could be
wrong ? The problem seems to occur _before_ newsrun get starting. I'ld
be glad for any idea/help !
System: Linux-0.99-5, root-device runs extfs, /usr/spool/news runs minixfs.
News polled with g-proto & hardware-handshake on & 16550Uart.
Thanks,
Lutz
