From: glgam@cc.newcastle.edu.au (GLGAM) Subject: 'touch' and SLS .99pl4 : HELP! Date: Sat, 13 Feb 1993 08:59:24 GMT
Can some kind soul please tell me some possible reasons why the command
'/bin/touch' is resulting in '/bin/touch: cannot execute binary file' (or
something similar).. The reason I ask is that I have just tried to install
SLS 0.99pl4 and am finding that at login, this error message is being
displayed. I am subsequently not allowed to login, and must wait till
single user mode is invoked..(some time later) where I can manually
enter the command 'touch utmp' from the /etc directory.. any attempt
to prefix the touch command results in the error.. oh btw.. what script
controls what is executed at login ? and can I easily edit it ? and
why does touch not like a full path ?
