Subject: People running X on laptops w/ VGA only
Date: Fri, 12 Feb 1993 12:15:30 GMT

Hello,

I have a major problem with the X stuff in SLS .99pl4: I can't get
it to run on the notebook's VGA, no matter what I try as Xconfig. Has
anyone got a fuctioning Xconfig for Xfree 1.1 (the one in SLS) which runs
on a standard VGA (no frills, no SVGA, etc.)? I would immensely appreciate
anyone sending me a copy or explanations as to why the X stuff continually
says that it has been compiled for SVGA and no matter what Xconfig I use I
end up either with a totally crashed machine and a very bad looking screen
or a message telling me it couldn't detect any of the known chipsets (I
know why - I don't have any of them - I want to know how to make it behave
reasonably!).

        Thanks,

                Arrigo
