Dear LINUX users

I would like to thank all of you for your help in explaining to me the meaning
of the messages which I was getting at installation time .
Now I have a few other questions which I was wondering if you could kindly
answer.

1) during the instalation of X11 I get the following message with the first
disk :
tar: could not creat symlink to /usr/X386/bin

2) When I do try to run X11 by typing xstart I get a gray or black or white
screen for a few seconds and then the following messages :

Creating TCP Socket : Invalid argument
        XFree86 Version 1.0Ya /X Window System
        (Protocol Version 11 , revision 0, vendor release 5000)
        Configured drivers :
                VGA256 (256 colour SVGA)
                et4000, et3000, pvga1, gvga, ati, tvga 8900

        VGA256: et4000 (mem: 1024K numclock: 16)
        VGA256: clock: 25 28 36 27 30 33 20 24 50 57 72 45 60 65 40 47
        VGA256: SpeedUp mode selected (flag=0x3f)

        Fatal server error :
Could not open default font 'fixed'

Xinit: Invalid argument (errno 22): unable to connect to x server

Xinit: no such process (errno 3): Server error

Well I am not sure what is happening as I have just been introduced to LINUX
and the UNIX operating system ( I am not at all familiar with UNIX I have
always worked in DOS so you would have to forgive me for the simplistic
questions). I would like to learn and be able to run x windows my hardware
config is as follows :

                486-33Mhz (256 cache), 4Meg RAM, 105Meg HD, ET-4000 (1meg)

I have looked at FAQ files around for LINUX and not been able to find any thing
on this.

I also would apriciate if some one could tell me what commands have to be used
to transfer data to anf from the floppy drives to the hard disk (ie. like the
copy comand in dos) and is it possible to execute commands from floppies.
Also is there a way to set a path in UNIX.

I am sorry for taking so much bandwidth but I have been stuck on these problems
for many days and could not find anything on them even in the FAQ.

With Highest Regards
