HELP! I can't figure out how to install X windows on to linux!

I have 4 meg ram, 125 meg HD, 5 meg swap, 64 meg partition for linux

I got the latest SLS version (the one on tsx as of 2-3-92) and got
all the files. Only thing corrupted (due to bad ftp'ing) was
some package called tcpip.tpz and i think almost everything else
unpacked without complaints. tcpip.tpz was in disk b2 i think.

I also have a generic SVGA card that should be plain VGA compatible.
It has a cirrus chipset (don't remember exactly what). So, i'd like
to know what I need to do to configure X to run with just generic
VGA or something. It automatically defaults to ET400 i think
and starts checking other chipsets, but none of them want to work.
I also need some advice on the files .xinitrc and .xserverrc and
what to do with them.

Please e-mail too, as this group has a very larger volume,

my e-mail is jimmyhua@usc.edu

                        Thanx a Million

p.s.
at the very least refer me to the APPROPRIATE FAQ as the
one that's posted on comp.os.linux doesn't say much on
how to get X on linux working.
