Subject: Why does .99pl4 ps report so many zombie processes?
Date: Wed, 10 Feb 1993 00:28:17 GMT

I'm not sure if this is due to my upgrade to SLS .99pl4 (from .98pl5), or to
my new use of the /proc ps, but I get many "zombie" processes now when I
quit programs, Did maybe the kmem ps simply not report them, or is it due
to .99pl4? I don't recall EVER seeing one in .98pl5 (with kmem ps). Should I
care? Do zombie processes slow down the machine much?
