Hmm... I'm running 0.99p1 (SLS 0.98p1 upgraded) and was running with two 40
meg MFM drives. I just bought a CP0170 the other day and an Adaptec 1542B
controller.
Came home, pulled open the case tossed in the new controller (Made sure
there were no irq or dma conflicts, I have a QIC-02 controller), and then
added the CP0170, pulled all three jumpers off the bottom of the drive
(Drive selects) and powered the system up. Instantly recognized the drives
and so did the Linux kernel. Formatted and fdisked and mkfs and voila...all
in under a hour.

Maybe sure you are using a recent version of the kernel and there are no
DMA, IRQ, IO conflicts with the drives.

By the way, I still left the other two MFM's on as well...gotta love
SCSI...

                                Good Luck

P.S. If you need more info...just email.
