Linux will use up to 16 meg of swap space PER swap partition or swap file.
Linux will allow multiple swap partitions and/or files. Simply divide
the partition in question into two or more parts each <= 16 meg and enable
them all. No kernel patches are required unless you are running out of
partition space in your partition tables.
