firehawk@centauri.unm.edu (-* FireHawk *-) asks a common question:

>I'm trying to put together a "minimal" X11 setup for my machine. Unfortunately
>I only have EGA .....

You can use X386 with a standard VGA or EGA in 640x480x2, with about 800x600
in virtual desktop. Some of us with SVGA that X doesn't know about have to do
this too. Here's how:

      Link X386mono as X in /usr/bin/X11
Use Xconfig.mono as a basis for Xconfig in /usr/X386/lib/X11, and
insert 'Chipset "generic"' into the VGA2 section.
