The Jumbo 250 is a QIC-80 device, and it is not supported by linux (yet).

If you have enough free space on your hard drive, it works beautifully. I
mount my dos partition in a directory under linux, and then tar large
chunks of my linux fs onto the dos partition. I then boot dos and use the
Colorado software to write the tar-ed file to the tape (with compression).
It isn't as easy as it would be if my tape drive was supported under
linux, but it is a heck of a lot easier than floppies.
