==========
I seem to be having a unique problem with installing SLS 0.99pl4 on my system.
I am attempting to run it on a Zenith Data Systems 386 with 5MB of RAM, two
40MB Hard drives(IDE), an EGA (I think) video card from an unknown manufacturer,
and a WD8013 Ethernet card. My goal is eventually to use it as a netnews server
for our network. The machine has been running SLS 0.98pl5 for two months now,
virtually without a hitch. Anyway, when I found out that SLS 0.99pl2 had come
out and that it included cnews, I quickly ftped it and attempted to install it.
When I booted the machine with disk a1 in the drive, everything appeared to work
fine, and the machine seemed to come up normally, except that I noticed that the
keyboard Caps Lock, Num Lock, and Scroll Lock indicator lights started to flash
on and off in unison, in no recognizable pattern. In addition, the keyboard
ceases to respond. The OS appears to continues to run; it's just very difficult
to do anything without the keyboard! I have since tried this many times, with
both 0.99pl2 and 0.99pl4 with the same result. I believe that I have ruled out
any transmission problems and any problems with the keyboard. It could just be
the hardware. These Zeniths are rather notorious for compatability problems
with popular software, certain recent Borland language products for example. I
am really at a loss and would appreciate any help that anyone could give me.
The following is what is shown on the screen when I boot the Linux 0.96pl5 SLS
system that I have had running quite stablely for two months. It was ftped
from tsx-11.mit.edu in late November:

Now you may take the boot disk out of your drive and put the
utilities disk in instead. AFTER you have done this,
1) Drive A: 5 1/4 inch
2) Drive A: 3 1/2 inch
3) Drive B: 5 1/4 inch
4) Drive B: 3 1/2 inch

(A few comments about the above screens: First of all, in my efforts to get
TCP/IP to work properly, I may have changed a few lines of /etc/rc and thus I
few of the above lines may be a little bit different from what would have been
in the distribution. Secondly, dispite what the computer says, their is neither
a printer nor a mouse on the computer. Is this a problem with the machine or
Linux or some combination thereof?)
I would greatly appreciate any help that anyone could give me.
