I need my disk space for better uses, so I decided to start deleting
things from /usr/X386, knowing that I could restore them from the
SLS disks if necessary. I eliminated the link kit, the Speedo,
Type1, 75dpi and 100dpi fonts, and about half the utilities (I
will never use them). I made only one mistake -- deleting xrdb --
which took only a few minutes to correct. When I was done,
"du -k /usr/X386" showed about 3.8MB in use for my (xmono) setup.
I still had libraries, etc., in place, and was able to compile
xfed and seyon with no problems. I have since relented and put
the 75dpi fonts back on, since they are so nice (I am using Times
bold 12pt for my "variable" font, and it is nice) -- still, however,
I have a very useful X11 setup in <5MB, and learned an awful lot
about X11 in the process. I think that I have X11 running now in
less disk space than Windows or Macintosh System 7!!!!!! Now, if
only I could save more space with TeX.......
