this is not a linux-specific question and it should've been asked in the
news.admin.* or news.software.b hierarchies. Questions like this are why
the volume is so high.

to answer, it seems your sys file might not be set up right. Here's mine...
you used the wrong example from the provided sys file...also look at the
crontab.sample in there for examples regarding how to call sendbatches to
take the 'togo/1' file and batch it up for your feed.
