This has happened to me as well. I had a couple of man pages disappear a
while ago, and immediately ran efsck on the partition; no problems
detected. At the time I was trying to get X running and was crashing the
server every 10 minutes, so I didn't think to blame the file system.

It seems to happen on a fairly regular basis, and is very frustrating.
2 days ago I compiled some stuff succesfully which crashed immediately.
I went to compile with the debug switch turned on; lo and behold the
math library was gone!

BTW, how stable is the newfs currently? There is no way I intend to
keep the extfs on my machine after this.
