You will certainly need the smail-version with SMTP-support compiled
in. The version included in the current SLS-release should work. It
will still give uucp-error messages if it's unable to resolve the
address you're trying to send mail to, but normally it works fine.

My smail-config is pretty simple:

        visible_domain=automat.uni-essen.de
        visible_name=Blimp.automat.uni-essen.de
        domains=automat.uni-essen.de
        smart_path=sparc1.ikb.uni-essen.de
        smart_transport=smtp

I guess one of the domain-entries is obsolete; smart-path points to
a machine a little more smart about sesolving addresses. The only
thing I haven't set up yet is routing of bitnet-addresses. Anybody
an example how to do that??
