Subject: Another Microchannel Question... Geez

Hello Gracious Netlanders,
This is yet another posting from someone who is stuck with a
PS/2 and wants to run Linux. I know that Linux hates the weird ESDI
hard disk controller that is in the PS/2 Mod 80 and other machines, but
does anyone know if a version of Linux compiled for SCSI devices only
would work on a PS/2 with an MCA SCSI card? This is just a shot in the
dark, before I hunker down and try to port Linux to PS/2's.
Is anyone else working on this? I found some of the documentation
that I need and I'm calling IBM to get more tomorrow. If I don't run
completely out of money, I hope to get together enough information to
attempt a serious port of Linux. I've never ported an OS before, so this
should be interesting.
One final question. I hear that the MCC distribution or some-such
has actually been successfully booted on a PS/2 machine. If you've done
this I'd love to hear from you.

I know this is not of general interest, so lets please continue
via email...

                                        Sincerely,
Robert Todd Pack (Got No Time To Hack)
