This sounds like what I was getting, if you are running the SVGA Text
Mode, change your kernel to use normal 80x25 and you might find that Xmono
will work for sure. Xcolour is just a matter of playing around with it.
I tried for days to get Xcolour working, until I noticed in the
Comp.Windows.X.i386unix FAQ that Xfree86 only supports ATI boards with the
chip rev of 28800-5 or 6 and mine was a 2. So It was upgrade time, now it
runs great. But the Text mode was my biggest problem...
Has anyone found out why the SVGA Text Modes screws up X? At least for
ATI boards... ?
