Hello,

I recently got a new PC and have given up
on MS-DOS (and Microsoft in general). I am very
anxious to get up and running with Lenux but to be
honest I haven't the first clue about installing it
or even if its compatible with my existing hardware.

I heard several months ago that there weren't
any good drivers to run X on the ATI Ultra VGA card in
1280x1024 or 1024x768 mode. Also, I have two hard
drives and would like to dedicate half of the second
drive to lenux... I have no idea how to partition things
so I can boot from either DOS or UNIX.

I realize that these questions may seam quite
simple to many of you but any information or assistance
I can get would be greatfuly appreciated. Essentially
all I want is to have X Windows running, gcc, and latex
with xdvi, and also the ability to develop X applications
using xlib and the x toolkit. Feel free to send me e-mail
about this. Thanks a lot.
