I second the motion! The people who have worked on this have done a GREAT JOB.
The only problem I had was somehow missing 'getty.tpz' when I first got the
disks. Other than that, READING the documentation solved most of my problems.
I do have one question though: I would like to establish a dial up link with
my Sun workstation and use the linux server and the Sun's clients. I am VERY
new to unix networking but, if I understand correctly, what I need is to
activate TCP/IP with SLIP?
I read through all 4 parts (80+ pages) of the faq and didn't see (or missed)
references to this. All of the TCP/IP related doc talked about local type
connections with ethernet cards and didn't seem to mention serial line
protocols.
Could some kind person point me in the right direction and give me a good
hard push?
Also, I elected (despite the warning) to use the extended file system, and there
doesn't seem to be much doc on that either. So far I am quite happy with the
longer file names and I have not experienced any terrible disk errors. I didn't
see a name associated with the efs, so who should I talk to in order to find out
what terrible things to expect and/or what they would like me to stress/test?
Once again, thanks to Linus et al for the great work and I hope I can help
contribute to the effort in the near future.
