Hello,
I would appreciate some feedback on the following problem:
I have a 386SL-20 portable with 6M RAM, 60M HD with a VGA display.
I used to run Linux 0.8x on it but then was forced back into DOS
before I could wait for Linux to evolve further. Now, I require a
fast portable (possibly notebook size) UNIX box with X-windows. I
have considered a SparcBook but it is outside most people's price
range so I was wondering if buying a fast 486DX-33 notebook with a
hefty 120M hard-disk & 8M RAM will do. The problem then boils to
the following: can I run Linux+X-windows+development tools+network
tools (for when I connect to the local Ethernet via a pocket
adaptor) on a VGA LCD screen or is the whole idea a waste of money?
Thanks,
Arrigo
P.S. I would prefer e-mail replies as my news gateway is subject to
"connection hiccups" and "article amnesia"
