If it is just one xterm window with a connection you are
looking for, Seyon might fit the bill. Seyon is an X-window comm
program by Muhammad M. Saggaf. I have it for Linux and I believe it
runs on other unices as well.
A basic description: When I start Seyon, it pops up two
windows, a "command center" and a "terminal emulator". The terminal
emulator is basically an xterm (and you can configure it to use other
window types, like rxvt), and the command center has all the buttons
(dial, hangup, transfer, ...). I generally dislike UI's but I like
Seyon.
        Good luck.
