...pl12 requires you to be more "exact" with your routing. For example, with
pl11, I could get away with adding my default gw *without* adding the
network route (ie. your ip addr && 255.255.255.0) but with pl12 I must
add the network route *before* adding the default gw.
As for your SCSI and Serial probs, well...
