In article <247i8p$7gi@rwa.urc.tue.nl> tgcpwd@rwa.urc.tue.nl (Wim van Dorst/Prof. Penninger) writes:

   E.g. the line from /etc/passwd

           duck:2QaBd4:321:20:Harold Wilberforce Clifton:/home/duck:/bin/sh

would become the entries in /usr/lib/aliases for

           clifton: duck
           harold: duck
           harold.clifton: duck
           harold.wilberforce.clifton: duck
           h.clifton: duck
           h.w.clifton: duck
           harold.w.clifton: duck
           etc.

I have a slightly different question. How do I get outgoing mail to
use a mail alias in the From and From: lines? I want mail to look
like "From harold.w.clifton", for example, instead of "From duck".
I've checked the man pages and FAQs, but I still can't find it.
Thanks in advance for any pointers to the correct sources of
information. Replies by mail or post are fine. I'll be happy to post
a summary if anyone shows interest in one.
