Subject: Problem installing SLS 99p11
Date: 10 Aug 1993 18:24:13 GMT

Just a quick question. Sorry if this has been covered already, but I'm new
to this group.

Last night I installed the SLS (Softlanding Linux System) Linux release
99p11. I asked to be prompted before each package is installed. For
almost every package, after I responded 'y', I got the following error
message (the package in this example is lx99p11, but the error happens
on many more packages):

installing lx99p11...trailing garbage ignored in stdin
   stdin: internal error, invalid method

I haven't had much time to check out the installation, but most things
that I tried seemed to work. One notable exception was /etc/syssetup.
When I try to run this, I'm immediately returned to the prompt.

Do I need to be concerned with these messages? I followed the installation
directions very carefully, and formatted all of my floppies before copying
the files to them (except, of course, a1, for which I used rawrite).

Additional info:

Gateway 2000 4DX2-66V Local Bus
ATI GUP LB
Partitioned disk to reserve 130 MB for Linux; did not format this partition
Logged in as user 'install' and followed install script
Used DOS FDISK, not Linux fdisk

Thanks much,
