Subject: SLS 1.03 freezing after logging in as install or root
Date: 10 Aug 1993 14:18:19 +1000

Greetings all. Just got 2x1Mb SIMMs yesterday and tried to install SLS 1.03. I
whacked in the a1 disk and let it rip. I got to the prompt with no errors
and so I logged in as "install" as suggested. It gave me the message
"Welcome to the SLS installation program" (or whatever) then it scrolled up
a line then just sat there. After a short while I hit return and it scrolled
up one line. Other typed characters got echoed to the screen but nothing
else happens. So I tried again, that is I rebooted off the floppy and logged
in as root, same thing, no action.
My (puny) setup:
                386SX 16MHz
2688k RAM (some gets knicked by the board)
                Seagate st351A/X 42Mb disk
                5 1/4" flappy drive

Can I get around this by hitting ALT at LILO time and entering floppy? I
really would like the install thing to work though. Thanks in advance for
any responses.
                                Cheers, Dave Ryan.
