From: dboese@spartan.ac.BrockU.CA (Darcy Boese) Subject: NET-2 Configuration? Date: Mon, 9 Aug 1993 20:09:52 GMT
Me again, still pleading for a bit of help. I recently installed the SLS 1.03
setup, and have gotten most of it working much better than I was able to
configure for the 1.02 version of SLS. For instance, I have now compiled the
XFree_SVGA to work properly with my particular machine, and when I ftp I can
transfer files in both directions without any difficulty.
But I have not been able to configure the NET-2 stuff properly. Starting out
with the assumption that the SLS has everything compiled but not configured, I
went to the NET-2 FAQ and started from scratch at the beginning. Except that
I didn't recompile the kernel and so on.
I downloaded the net2 files from tsx and put the files in /conf/net, created
symbolic links to them from /etc, turned off the call to /etc/rc.net and
replaced them with calls to /etc/rc.inet1 and /etc/rc.inet2. I also had to
create the devices in /dev for the networking.
Now the machine works correctly on the network except that it cannot seem to
see or be seen by machines outside the local zone, the same as when I had it
using the /etc/rc.net. The only difference is that when I do the command
"netstat -nr" and "ifconfig" the parameters seem to have been configured
properly.
Who out there is using SLS 1.03 on the internet, and can see outside their
local zone? Or people just using NET-2? I need to see how your configuration
files are set up so that I can figure what is wrong with mine...
